Abstract

788,720. Abrasive tools. CARBORUNDUM CO. Oct. 31, 1956 [Dec. 21,1955],no. 33194/56. Class 124. An abrasive blade comprises a steel centre 6 and a peripheral portion made up of a number of lands 9 with slots 8, and a bonded diamond segment 10 bonded to each land 9, each segment 10 being substantially L-shaped, one leg extending along the peripheral edge of the land 9, the second leg 11 extending along a radial edge 12 of a slot 8. The second leg 11 may overhang the radial edge 12 or be bonded in a recess therein. The segments may be slightly wider than the thickness of the steel centre 6. Preferably, the diamond particles of the bonded abrasive segments are concentrated in the outer portion of the peripheral leg and the radial leg portion, or in the outer part of the peripheral leg, with a base which is highly wear resistant, e:g. tungsten carbide. The sides of the slots may be canted from the radial direction. Specifications 359,637, 516,702 and 532,890 [both in Group V] are referred to.
