Abstract

1331463 Centrifugal fans and pumps; rotor blades CABOT CORP 14 Sept 1970 [12 Sept 1969] 43807/70 Headings F1C and FIT A rotor-mountable blade has an essentially flat surface which serves as a working surface for propelling finely-divided solids and comprises substantially parallel raised ribs 20 extending across the flat surface and spaced apart along the radially extending dimension of the blade, the exposed surface of each rib containing a more wear resistant material than the flat surface. The ribs may be brazed or bonded to grooves 19 and be of steel coated with tungsten carbide or may be made, e.g. by sintering, entirely of wear resistant material. The wear resistant coating may be applied by a plasma spraying process. The angle # is 5 degrees to 30 degrees and spacing x is ¢ to 2 times the width of the rib base 22. The blade may be used in fans, turbines or pumps.
