Abstract
PURPOSE: To make a rotary pump adaptable to high speed operation through diminishing the resistance encountered by the rotary part of the pump, by arranging such that the tips of cuved vanes of an impeller slide along the contact surface of a flat vane as the impeller rotates.
CONSTITUTION: Flat vanes 15b, 16b of driving side contact curved vanes 18a, 17a of the driven side, while the curved vanes 17b, 18a of the driving side are in contact with the opposing surfaces of flat vanes 15b, 16b of the driven side, so that tips of the curved vanes slide along the contact surfaces of the flat vanes as the impellers 13a, 13b rotate. In consequence, fluid is shifted as two impellers 13a, 13b rotate within the casings 5a, 5b and the resistance against the rotation is greatly reduced to permit a high speed rotation.
