A cylindrical capacitor comprises an insulating cylinder 1, Fig. 1, on which alternate layers 2, 4, 5, 7 of metal and 3, 6, 8 of quartz or titanium oxide have been applied by vapour deposition, alternate metallic layers projecting at the respective ends. Terminals 9, 10 (Fig. 2) are provided and are in connection with the extending ends.
