Abstract

880,218. Terminal blocks. BELLING & LEE Ltd. May 15, 1959, No. 16683/59. Class 38 (1). A terminal block comprises an insulating body 1, e.g. of resilient synthetic thermoplastic material, housing a metal sleeve 3 having clamping screws 16, 17 inserted in holes 12, 13 formed in the body 1 at right angles to the axis of the sleeve 3, the holes being partially closed by lips 14, 15 each of which is sufficiently flexible to permit the whole of the screw 16 or 17 to be pressed past it into the hole 12 or 13 and is so dimensioned as to prevent the screw from falling out of the hole. The holes 12, 13 may embrace washers 8, 9 formed integrally with the body 7 and each screw 18 or 19 may be undercut to accommodate at least part of the washer when the screw is screwed down. A number of metal sleeves may be arranged side by side in the body to form a terminal strip. An insulating plug may be provided in each hole 12, 13 to insulate the tops of the screws 16, 17.
