880,215. Heel protectors. PFEIL, H. Aug. 10, 1960 [Aug. 10, 1959], No. 27648/60. Class 17(3) An exchangeable heel protector has a non- circular shank 5 which is provided with a step at its side facing the front of the heel to form a tongue 6 of reduced thickness, a grub screw 8 being accommodated in the heel above the step to engage and secure the tongue in a complementary blind hole in the heel. As shown the heel lift 4 is integral with the shank and is of thermoplastic resin such as polyamide. The heel breast side of the shank is provided with a plane surface and the shank may be D-shaped in cross-section. A plate washer 10 may be provided between the heel 1 and the protector 4, both the washer and the protector being flush with the heel covering 9. The lower metal part 1 of the heel is secured to the upper part 2 of wood by means of a hexagonal dowel.
