Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0880139/IV (b)/1> and their acid addition salts, wherein "lower alkyl" represent C1-6 alkyl groups, Y represents a C2-6 alkylene radical, R1 and R11 represent hydrogen atoms, C1-6 alkyl radicals, C3-6 alkenyl radicals, C3-6 cycloalkyl radicals, aromatic radicals having one or two fused aromatic rings each containing 5 or 6 ring atoms the rings being carbocyclic or heterocyclic, including phenyl radicals substituted by C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkoxy, C1-6 alkylmercapto, C1-6 alkylsulphonyl, C1-6 alkylamino, C1-6 carboxylic-acylamino or amino groups or halogen atoms or aromatic-C1-6 alkyl) radicals or NR1R11 represents a saturated N-heteromonocyclic radical containing 5 or 6 ring atoms which rings may be alkyl substituted, and the preparation thereof by reacting the corresponding lower alkyl 4-phenyl-piperidine 4-carboxylate with a carbamyl-(polycarbon-lower alkyl) halide or an acylamide, or with a cyanoalkyl halide or an acrylonitrile to prepare the corresponding 1-cyanoalkyl carboxylate intermediate and hydrolysing the said intermediate under acidic conditions. Specification 880,140 is referred to.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions for oral or parenteral administration formulated in solid or liquid form contain compounds of the general formula <FORM:0880139/VI/1> or an acid addition salt thereof and an inert carrier. In the above formula, "lower alkyl" represents a C1-6 alkyl group, Y a C2-6 alkylene radical, R1 and R11 represent hydrogen atoms, C1-6 alkyl groups, C3-6 alkenyl groups, C3-6 cycloalkyl groups, aromatic radicals having one or two fused rings each containing 5 or 6 ring atoms and being carbocyclic or heterocyclic, including phenyl radicals substituted by C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkoxy, C1-6 alkylmercapto, C1-6 alkylsulphonyl, C1-6 alkylamino, C1-6 carboxylic-acylamino or amino groups or halogen atoms or aromatic-(C1-6-alkyl) radicals or NR1R11 represents a saturated N-hetero-mono cyclic radical containing 5 or 6 ring atoms which may be alkyl substituted.
