Abstract
879,906. Stencilling-apparatus. VIDAL, I. S. Feb. 7, 1958 [Feb. 11, 1957], No. 4037/58. Class 100(2) In stencilling-apparatus wherein the stencil is carried by a wheeled frame or slide 4 which is traversed over the fabric &c. on a fixed table 12 and is stopped peiodically for printing by stops 11 fixed on the table, a lever 1 on the slide 4 is adapted to engage the stops and is disengaged therefrom by an electromagnet 5 under the control of a cam drum 20 which rotates in accordance'with the printing cycle operations. The lever 1 is pivoted to a lever 2, is normally held against a stop 15 by a spring 13, and is pivoted to the lever 18 of a hydraulic damping device 19. The lever 2 is pivoted at 3a, is normally held against a stop 16 by a spring 14, and is connected to the movable armature of the electro-magnet 5. The slide 4 is supported by wheels 7 on rails 6, and one wheel is driven by a constantspeed motor 8 through a belt 9. The motor 8 also drives the cam drum 20 through reduction gearing, and cams on the drum can engage contacts to energize the electromagnet 5. In operation, when the lever 1 on the moving slide 4 strikes a stop 11, it is urged towards a stop 17 against the damping action of the device 19, the belt 9 slips, and the slide is stopped. Printing now takes place under the action of the motor 8. After printing, the cam drum causes the electromagnet to be energized to swing the lever 2 about its pivot 3a, thus drawing the lever 1 upwardly clear of the stop 11, and the slide 4 is driven forward towards the next stop 11. The electromagnet 5 is now de-energized, and the springs 13, 14 return the levers 1, 2 to normal.
