878,309. Hearing aids. FORTIPHONE Ltd. May 10, 1960 [June 10, 1959], No. 19930/59. Class 40 (4). In a unitary construction hearing aid for occasional use and comprising an earphone 22, in a screening can 23, and a microphone 24, both of which are elastically supported to prevent singing, a moving contact 29 upon touching a fixed contact on printed-circuit board 28 by pressure of the aid against a user's ear, switches on a transistor amplifier mounted on the board 28. A ring of foam rubber 34 normally holds the back plate 12 away from the main body 10 of the instrument. Removal of grill 13 gives access to the batteries, and a volume control is provided at 17. The aid is normally held in the hand but a headband may be provided to hold it against the ear for more prolonged use.
