Abstract

877,741. Railway tank wagons. A.C.F. INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 16, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 38717/59. Class 103(4). [Also in Group XXVIII] A railway tank wagon comprising a liquefied gas tank 19 (see Group XXVIII) rigidly connected by a sleeve 55 to one end of an outer shell 18 and resiliently suspended therein by a group of rods 60 secured at their mid points to a ring 66 surrounding the tank 19 and being secured at their ends to a ring 62 bearing against the interior wall of the shell 18 and by a group of bars 61 secured at their mid points to a ring 67 (Fig. 12; Group XXVIII) of the tank 19 and at their ends to a shell ring 63. At ambient temperature the bearing ring 67 is in a transverse plane behind that of the shell ring 63 and on contraction at low temperature the bars become flexed. The shell 18 is mounted on saddles 17 Fig. 1 (not shown) and is surrounded by a weather housing.
