Abstract

877,253. Heat-insulating laggings. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd., ABBOTSON, W., JAMESON, D. T., and ROBSON, J. P. July 4, 1960 [July 8, 1959], No. 23443/59. Class 99(2). Thermal insulating lagging for pipes comprises two A, B or more cylindrically curved sections of foamed material adapted to fit round a pipe L, the sections being provided with an outer coating of flexible sheet material C which provides a hinged joint D between the sections. As shown, the sections are provided with interlocking tongues E, F and grooves G, H. The sections are held in place by adhering the lap J of flexible sheet material to the part K. Alternatively the two sections A, B may be fixed by direct adhesion. The foamed material is preferably polyurethane and the adhesive one with an isocyanate base. The flexible sheet material may be a textile material, a plastic filling a synthetic or natural rubber, or a material based on fibre glass.
