Material A fluidized by the passage of air through porous decks 10, 11, 12 in a vessel 1 passes through an aperture 25 of a baffle 21, thence to pass into a conveyer conduit 9. The baffle 21 is of channel-shape in cross-section so as to form a conduit for the passage of air from the space above the material A. The air in the conduit is directed by a second baffle 27 so as to impinge on the material emerging from the aperture 25. The latter is controlled by a valve 26 having manual operation at 26<SP>11</SP>. The decks 10, 11, 12 may slope towards the aperture 25. Specification 839,101 is referred to.
