Abstract
877,176. Knitting-machines. ROSEN, K. I. J. July 25, 1958, No. 24107/58. Class 74 (2). An alteration in the relationship between the rotational speeds of two shafts 26a, 27 rotated, the one by the yarn 8 drawn to a feeding station and the other in dependence on machine speed, influences a stitch cam 12, so that a predetermined amount of yarn will be fed during each revolution of the machine. The yarn 8 passing to the feeder 5 drives, through reduction gearing 18-23, the shaft 26a, screw-threaded into the shaft 27 driven through gears 15, 16, the gear 15 being driven through a worm and interchangeable gear-wheels to vary its speed which is, after each adjustment, in a fixed relation to the speed of rotation of the machine. As the yarn demand deviates from that desired, the speeds of rotation of the two shafts will become unequal and the shaft 26a will be screwed out of or into the shaft 27. Thereby, through a lever 11, a plunger 6 carrying needle cams 12, 13 is depressed, or allowed to rise under the influence of a spring 33. The apparatus may be filled with oil of low viscosity.
