Abstract

876,865. Gyroscopic apparatus. BURGER, F. W. Oct. 28, 1959, No. 36505/59. Class 97(3) A device 7, Fig. 2, for use with a gyroscopic attitude indicator 2, comprises a body positioned at one side of the indicator 2, and having a pair of slots 18, 19 accommodating pin indexes 20, 21, and index 22 respectively, the pin index 22 being aligned with a pointer 23 which extends across the face 3 of the instrument 2. The arrangement is such that pointer 23 may be slid upwardly or downwardly to indicate a critical angle of pitch which should be followed, or not exceeded, during take-off or landing and indexes 20, 21 are preset so that index 22 may be aligned with one or other of them. Fig. 4 shows an exploded view of the device 7, which comprises a lower plate 11 and an upper plate formed in two parts 14, 15. Plates 25, 26, carrying the indexes 20, 21, are slidable within aligned grooves 24, 28 in the lower and upper plates and may be secured in position by nuts 28<SP>1</SP>, 29<SP>1</SP> engaging threaded projections 28, 29. The pointer 23 and index 22 are rigid with a carrier 31 which slides within a recess 30 and is moved by spring strip 38 actuated by a member 34 having a finger knob 36.
