Abstract

876,168. Air-heating radiators for spaceheating. MORITZ, G. May 12, 1959 [May 17, 1958; Nov. 10, 1958], No. 16191/59. Classes 64(2) and 64(3) The sections of a.radiator each comprise a vertical tube 1 for a heating medium (between bosses 2) and a plate fin 4 bearing ribs 5 and outermost ribs 6; the fin 4 widens towards the top of the section. As shown in Fig. 1 the widening is at one side of the tube 1 but it may be on both sides. The sections are of cast iron or made of stamped steel sheets or sheets of light alloy and connected by threaded sleeves. The fins 4 may be corrugated to give a wavy section or a zig-zag section, Fig. 5a. They may be formed to give the section indicated in Fig. 5c or divided as in Fig. 5d; the divisions may be parallel, louvrefashion. The ribs 5 may be corrugated, Fig. 6 (not shown) and there may be projections from the fins 4 or the ribs 5 or both to retard the air rising between the radiator sections. To prevent air escaping at the back of the radiator and possibly also at the front, the outermost ribs 6 of adjacent sections may touch one another or be joined by strips 10, Fig. 4, of metal or of synthetic resin. The strips 10 may be attached by clips 11 or by screws or hooks. There may be electric heaters in the tubes 1.
