Abstract

A radiating surface for heaters based on the power dissipated in an electrical resistance is designed to provide both a shape that is simple to manufacture and a large radiating surface. The radiator surface is pressed from a flat rectangular sheet of aluminium, aluminium alloy or some similar material. The pressing produces 'V' shaped folded surfaces(2) spaced at regular intervals and parallel to each other, which when fully closed produce vertical wings or flanges along the plate. Further pressing produces a half cylinder(4) in the plate, such that two such plates placed back to back provide a vaned tube in which is situated the resistance element in the form of a rod(7).
