Abstract
875,652. Knitted fabrics. FOISTER, CLAY & WARD Ltd. Feb. 17, 1960 [Feb. 26, 1959], No. 6716/59. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group VII] A knitted article of footwear which is selfsupporting in wear, e.g. a three-quarter sock or ankle sock, has a top comprising courses knitted from a crimped synthetic polyamide or polyester yarn, or a combination thereof, and a lower leg and foot portion knitted from yarn of other fibres, e.g. those of animal or vegetable origin. Rubber yarn covered or uncovered, may be run in or knitted in with the synthetic yarn. The top may be of 1 x 1 rib, the lower leg of plain fabric or of broader rib, the instep and foot bottom correspondingly ribbed or respectively ribbed and plain or both plain, and the heel and toe plain. The top may be knitted separately or continuously with the leg and may be a turnover top.
