Abstract

430,438. Stockings. SPIERS, Ltd., W., and SPIERS, E., XL Works, Walnut Street, Leicester. Jan. 9, 1934, No. 810. [Class 141] [See also Group VIII] Seamless knitted golf hose, &c., is provided with a patterned rib leg 3 the courses of which are each composed of three or more contrastingyarns. These extend continuously throughout the circumferential extent of the pattern or fancy effect and are formed into loops l<1> ... l<3> independently in different wales, without floats. These loops are formed as the result of some plain needles being selected by jacquard &c., to knit at one feed, others at a second, others at a third and so on while the rib needles knit short rib loops l<4> at each feed. The entire foot or the instep side 4 only may be made of this fabric. Fig. 2 shows a plain, thickened unpatterned fabric formed by reciprocation and suitable for the heel 6 and/or toe 7. There is a 1/1 or 2 /2 turnover rib top 2, patterned or not and surmounted by a French or a reverse welt 1.
