Abstract
875,608. Ice-cream freezers. CARPIGIANI, P. Nov. 9, 1959 [Nov. 29, 1958; March 14, 1959], No. 37863/59. Class 29 In ice-cream freezers having a horizontal cylinder 1 refrigerated by an evaporator 2 and provided with a mixer 4 and, at one end, a dispensing tap 9, mix incorporating air is introduced into the cylinder through a pipe 33 when necessary by a continuously-running gear pump 13. The pump has two gears 14, 15 drawing in mix from tank 10 through pipe 16 and valve 17 and air through valve 18 respectively, the latter being incorporated in the mix by the pump. A non-return valve 45 in the exit of pipe 33 prevents back-flow from the cylinder 1. A relief valve 42 in pipe 33 vents excess mix back to tank 10. The front plate 29 of pump 13 is loaded by springs towards the pump casing and these give if the discharge pressure becomes too high so that plate 29 moves away from the casing to relieve the pump. The mix is pre-cooled in tank 10 by a heat conductive member 12 between the tank and evaporator 2.
