874,763. Hand-knitting needles. NEEDLE INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 21, 1958 [Dec. 3, 1957], No. 37692/57. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A keep for knitting needles or other rod-like articles comprises a body 11 of non-scratching resilient material formed with a plurality of channels 12 of substantially greater length than depth, the channels being arranged so that the bottom 15 wall of each is integral with that of the wall of the others, the bottom wall being of greater thickness than the side walls 13 of each channel, the side walls having inwardly projecting ribs 18 of a cross-sectional area which decreases from the central region of the length of the channel towards the ends thereof. As shown, two channels are provided which are open at both ends. Each channel is of reduced width in the region of its mouth 17 so as to be of undercut shape in cross-section. In a modification more than two channels can be provided. In a further modification the channels are connected at one end to a base portion which acts as a support.
