Abstract
874,453. Electromagnetic relays. DASCHKE, A. W., and SNELL, W. G. Sept. 18, 1958, No. 29918/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] A frequency responsive relay and indicator has tuned reeds 18 surrounded by a coil 22 and aligned with markings on a scale 14 behind a window 12 in a casing 10. Parallel to the two end reeds 18 are two magnetic movable contact members 25, 26 with bent-over ends 25a, 26a. When one of the end reeds 18 vibrates it engages the respective end 25a or 26a to move the member 25 or 26 to the right so that it is attracted by a permanent magnet contact 32 or 33. The members 25, 26 are reset by energization of respective coils 34, 35 causing plungers 36 to strike the members 25, 26. Members 25, 26 preferably vibrate at a relatively low frequency so as to be unaffected by the operating-coil flux. In Fig. 4 (not shown), a single coil is adapted to reset both contacts by means of a cross-bar on its plunger. In Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the contacts are manually reset by rotation of a knob mounted on a spindle carrying a bar which can engage either contact, a torsion spring normally maintaining the parts in a neutral position.
