Class 120(3) In a textile mill, each spinning frame is cleaned and heat produced by the individual driving motors thereof is dissipated by causing air streams to entrain broken ends, lint or fly and move through collecting headers, connected with a common main duct, to passages each housing one of the motors and, during movement of the streams through the passages, entraining therein air heated by the motors. As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 or 4, collector units 32 each comprising a door 73, intake orifices 74 and filter 76, are connected by ducts to housings 60, for motors 10 of frames F, which are connected by ducts 61 to a header 62 leading to a duct 63 incorporating a fan 64 and opening into a plenum chamber 65 which may contain refrigerating and/or humidifying apparatus. Outside air, relief, intake and discharge dampers 66, 67, 68 and 69 are controlled e.g. automatically, to vary the quantities of outside air and mill air in the air returned to the mill by a duct 70 and discharged through louvres 71. In a modification, Fig. 5, a collecting header 75 directs lint &c. to a central material recovery room (not shown) and at each motor 10 it forms a housing with a by-pass 36 and a screen 37 preventing passage of lint &c. therethrough. In the collector unit shown in Fig. 6, the main air stream is filtered by a screen 43 and a hood 45 permits the air heated by motor 10 to be drawn thereinto. In another embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown) the motor is cooled by air flowing through an auxiliary intake duct connecting a motor hood with header 75. The header 75 may lead to a centrifugal-concentrator separator within the housing 60 and comprising solid, foraminous and tapered portions extending to a material handling duct which leads to the duct 61 of larger cross-section, Fig. 8 (not shown). The unit 32 may connect directly with duct 61 in which two curved plates deflect the air stream to and from housing 60, Fig. 9 (not shown).
