Abstract

872,987. Broom and like handles. SUNDT & CO. Ltd. Dec. 10, 1957 [Dec. 10, 1956], No. 37709/56. Class 61. A hollow handle for a broom or other implement is made of thermo plastic resin such as polythene and is formed with internal lengthwise and/or transverse ribs. The end of the handle is a sliding fit in a socket 3 on the head of the broom 4 and is held in position by a screw 5 or by an adhesive. In a modification, the end of the handle is screw threaded for engagement in the correspondingly internally screw threaded socket 3. The upper end of the handle is closed by a cap 6 which may be shrunk on or otherwise secured to the end of the handle. In another modification a tapered, screw-threaded fitting is provided on the end of the handle.
