Abstract

872,153. Endless conveyers. BRITISH CERAMIC RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Aug. 10, 1959 [July 3, 1958], No. 21271/58. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] A pair of endless wires 16 carry tiles 24 through glazing apparatus (not shown) and then past a series of edge scrapers 26, 28, the tiles being held in contact with the wires while passing the scrapers by either suction mouths disposed below the path of the tiles or mouths above the path of the tiles from which air under pressure is directed downwardly on to the tiles, or by a combination of the two. Each mouth 20 is covered by a plate 22 having perforations 23. The wires 16 are guided in parallel paths in a plane such as to maintain the tiles just clear of the plates 22 by pulleys 15. Scrapers 26 are flexible blades held in clamps 27. The scrapers 28 are rigid members mounted for transverse sliding movement and urged towards the tiles by springs 30 giving sufficient resilience to the scrapers to enable them to negotiate spacing nibs 24a on the tiles.
