Abstract

871,066. Moulding impeller blades. VASILJEVIC, C. Sept. 11, 1957, No. 28594/57. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXVI] An impeller blade for a pump or blower is formed by impregnating with synthetic resin, e.g. phenol-formaldehyde, pre-cut wooden foils, natural or synthetic fibres, e.g. glass wool, or fabrics, or like material, arranging the material in layers corresponding to the general formation of the finished blade, and applying heat and pressure in a mould, the arrangement of the layers being such that parts of the blade formation are subjected to greater pressure during the moulding and are thus rendered stronger. The blade illustrated has a metal core 6 at its base end and is moulded of layers 7 of the impregnated material of different sizes. A larger number of layers are thus provided at the base end so that when pressure is applied in the mould that end is more highly compressed and thus strengthened.
