Abstract

Sections of an electrical insulator each comprise a cylinder with one end flared out to form a shed. Each section may be formed from a mat of glass fibres shaped in a mould, impregnated with epoxy resin and cured. Alternatively glass-fibre "stockings" may be stretched over a male mould, one upon another, until a desired thickness has been built up and a female mould placed over the assembly after which the layers are impregnated with resin.
