870,799. Rotary folders. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. March 7, 1958 [March 9, 1957], No. 7497/58. Class 100(1) In a folding jaw control on the folding jaw cylinder 5 of a rotary printing press, a folding jaw 3 and a co-operating check jaw 4 are each so shaped as to resist bending due to folding pressures, are pivotally mounted on separate supporting tubes and are each supported resiliently against stop means. A tubular extension of the jaw 3 is rotatable in one bearing 12 and a supporting tube 8 is rotatable in the other bearing 9 of the cylinder 5. A torsion bar 13 extends within the supporting tube 8 and is rigidly connected thereto at one end. The other end of the bar 13 engages, by means of notch teeth, in a bush 14 which is connected by a toothed coupling 15 with the tubular extension of the jaw 3. The bush 14 is provided with a further toothed coupling 16 with which it engages the supporting tube 8, this coupling having a limited play. The tube 8 has a lever 17 carrying a roller 18 which engages a cam (not shown) which operates the jaw, and lever 19 which engages a spring 20 for' biasing the roller 18 into engagement with the cam. The jaw 4 is similarly mounted except that instead of the levers 17 and 19 the supporting tube is provided with a lever 21 which abuts against an adjustable stop 22. The stop is adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the paper to be folded and the lever 21 locked in position by a clamping screw 23.
