[Also in Group XV] Ammunition for a toy gun, e.g. a pistol, comprises a projectile 11 retained in a cartridge case 10 by hook-like projections 16 engaging an inturned edge 12 and urged forwardly by a spring 13 bearing on shoulders 23 of a tailpiece 21. The hook-like projections are formed at the ends of resilient arms 14 which tend to spring outwardly but are prevented from springing beyond a position in which lugs 20, Fig. 4, on the arms engage flanges 19 on the projectile's sidewalls 17. The arms 14 have peaked portions 15 which serve as cam surfaces. When the ammunition is struck by a spring-urged trigger-operated striker 30, the cartridge is moved forward, the peak parts 15 engage sloping surfaces 31 in the pistol, the arms 14 are moved inwardly, the projections 16 are disengaged from the inturned edge 12 and the projectile is propelled through the pistol barrel by the spring 13. The spring is retained in the cartridge by the inturned edge 12 so that the cartridge can be reloaded by forcing the projectile into its open end tail first. The cartridge may be of metal and the projectile formed in one piece by moulding from a plastics material.
