Abstract

869,792. Boxes for fragile articles. BOWATER-EBURITE FIBRE CONTAINERS Ltd. July 17, 1959 [April 19, I958], No. 12487/58. Class 18. A box for packing bottles comprises an outer container 1, a central apertured partition 2 and apertured end members 12, 13. The members 12, 13 hold the bottoms of the bottles and the partition 2 comprising sections 19-22 has apertures 3 engaging the bottle necks. The bottles are packed in two series of opposed, alternating rows with the necks of the two series overlapping. The box may have members 4, 10 folded as shown in Fig. 1 to support the members 2, 12, and 13. A member 8 covers the inside of the bottom of the box and is folded back at two edges to abut the members 12, 13. An inverted U-shaped member fits into the top of the box before closure flaps 17, 18 are folded down. In one modification, the member 8 may be extended to lie against the inside of each end wall and to form additional flaps lying beneath flaps 17 when the box is closed. In a second modification, two members 4 and one member 10 may be combined to form a single U-shaped member formed from one strip.
