869,256. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. Aug. 8, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 14683/57. Class 135. A servomotor valve actuating mechanism, e.g. for a reversing valve for a free piston marine engine, comprises a servo-piston 15 for operating the valve, a servo-control valve 17, a pressuresensitive member 25 and a manual control member 27. The pressure-sensitive member 25 comprises a bellows sensitive to fluid pressure supplied through a pipe 26 and actuates a spring-loaded disc 23. Movement of the disc causes a lever 21 to rock about a fulcrum point 34, the other end of the lever transmitting motion to a link 21 which, through a pivot 31 moves rod 32 and hence the servo-valve 17. Feed-back from the servo-piston is provided through a floating lever 30. Manual control of the servo-valve 17 is provided by a hand wheel 29, rotation of which causes the rod 27 to move the pivot point 34 in a lateral direction. The rod 21 then pivots about the connection 33 and motion is transmitted to the link 20 and control valve 17. Instead of the bellows 25 and disc 23 a piston and cylinder may be substituted.
