[Also in Groups XXXI and XXXIV] In a fluid pressure brake system for an aircraft, the normal operation of the brakes is by a rod 63 coupled to the brake pedal (not shown). Movement of rod 63 pivots a lever 61 about its pivot 62 thereby causing the arms 46 and 56 of two levers pivoted to the lever 61 at 60 to open or close pairs of contacts 47, 48 and .57, 58. These contacts form part of the circuits for solenoids 49. 79 and 59, 89 which control the operation of cocks 41 and 51 so as to connect the wheel cylinders 72, 82 either to a source of fluid pressure by pipe 70 or to exhaust through pipe 90. When a certain pressure has been attained in the cylinders 72, 82, this pressure reacting through pipes 73, 83 on the restoring jacks 74, 84, causes operation of the contact elements 47, 48 and 57, 58 in such a way as to shut off the fluid pressure supply to the cylinders 72, 82. So as to provide for differential actuation of the cylinders 72, 82 for steering purposes, a rod 92, connected to the rudder bar, when moved in one direction pivots about point 60 the lever arm 46, and in the other direction the arm 56, only those contacts affecting the control of the brake cylinder on one side being altered at a time.
