868,698. Glazing. STEADMAN, J. Dec. 29, 1959 [Oct. 29, 1958], No. 34671/58. Class 20(3) In a composite glazing bar of the type shown, the base 7 of the weather channel member 1 is shaped for retained sliding engagement with one or more fixing shoes 14 securable on transverse supports 12 to hold down the bar. The fixing shoes 14 have the same cross-sectional shape as the cap 8 so as to be made from the same extrusion, e.g. of aluminium, and the base 7 is shaped correspondingly with its outer face slightly concave. The upper shoes may be secured directly to wooden transverse supports, and the lowermost shoes 14, Fig. 1, are secured as by grub screws 18 to a transverse metal plate 17, shaped to project on each side of the bar 1, Fig. 2, and is itself secured by wood screws 19 to the support 12 passing through the projecting plate ends. The front shoe 14 is made longer than the rear shoe so as to extend to the overhung edge of the glazing panel 20, longitudinal movement of the bar 1 relative to the shoe 14 being prevented by a set screw 21 passing through the shoe 14 into the bar 1 at a location in front of the bar 12 outside the glazed window area. To prevent the glazing panels 20 moving in relation to the bar 1 the channel base of the cap 8 at the lowermost end is extended and downturned as at 22 to overlie the forward edges of the panels 20.
