Abstract

868,386. Hose connectors. AIR TECH Ltd. March 9, 1960 [March 10, 1959], No. 8251/59. Class 99 (1). A device for connecting a hose pipe to a tap includes a hose connector 7 and a tap connector 1 detachably secured together to form a onepiece fitting, the tap connector being a unitary moulding of rubber or like flexible material and consisting of spaced inner and outer skirts 3, 13 joined at that end of the connector which is fitted to the tap ; an adjustable clamping band 4 is fitted around the outer skirt. As shown, the skirt 13 has internal, axially disposed ribs 2 engaged by notches in a nut 9 retained in position by a lip 12 of the skirt. The hose connector has a spigot screwed into the nut and spigot 14 on to which the hose is clamped by an annular spring 18 radially contracted by a nut 11. The skirt 13 may have internal, annular ribs coacting with annular ribs on the outer surface of the inner skirt. In a modification, the skirt 13 has a tubular extension 15 over which the connector 7 is passed until a flange 19 thereof passes over a lip 16 of the extension, and a rigid tapered tube 17 is forced into the extension to secure the connectors together.
