A water heater comprises a perforated drum oil burner b detachably secured to the base a<SP>1</SP> of a casing a and a coiled water pipe d through the coils of which the burner can be withdrawn upwardly. The burner has fuel supply pipes b<SP>3</SP> radiating from a ring b<SP>4</SP> clamped by an apertured screw c to a member a<SP>2</SP> secured to the base a<SP>1</SP> and to the end of a fuel supply pipe. The combustion gases are constrained to follow a sinuous path through the water coil d by a rib on the inner surface of the casing and by two vertically spaced discs mounted on a rod extending downwardly along the axis of the water coil from a lid mounted on the top of the casing.
