Abstract

867,584. Force-feed lubricating. DE LIMON HULME & CO. Oct. 4, 1957 [Nov. 7, 1956], No. 31119/57. Class 12 (3). In a dual-line lubrication system, means are provided for relieving pressure in both feed lines A, B simultaneously during a rest interval in order to reduce leakage from them through the feeders V. The system comprises a five connection, four position rotary valve 2 which in the position shown, connects the feed line A with a relief valve R 2 and the feed line B with a pump PF. After actuating the feeders V and thereby supplying lubricant to the righthand delivery lines L, the rise in pressure actuates a ram 1 which rotates the valve through 90 degrees and thus reverses the connections to the feed lines A and B. Lubricant is then delivered to the left-hand delivery lines L and the subsequent rise in pressure in line A actuates the ram 1 which rotates the valve 2 through a further 90 degrees, whereby both lines A and B are put in communication with an outlet R 1 . Also a projection 3 on the plug 2 actuates a switch S which sets a timer T to stop the pump for a predetermined rest interval. On re-starting, the rise in pressure in the pump outlet actuates the ram 1 which rotates the valve 2 through another 90 degrees, whereby line A is re-connected with the pump and the line B is connected with the outlet R 1 . A further pressure rise ensues and the ram 1 rotates the valve through yet another 90 degrees. Non-return valves may be located in the left-hand delivery lines L.
