Abstract

867,482. Unreeling-devices. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. April 14, 1958 [April 19, 1957], No. 11767/58. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) [Also in Group XXV]. In an unreeling device of the type with means for mounting the reel stationarily and a rotatable flyer braked by a variable friction device, the flyer 38 is rigid with a carrier 5 which is supported by lower and upper bearings 6, 7 between a base 1 and reel-mounting means 8; the weight of the reel assists the braking effect of the variable friction device, brake means being provided to hold the reel-mounting means stationary during normal working. The latter brake means can be wholly or partly the variable friction device, which may take the form of a spring 22 adjustable by a knob 23 to bear against a plate 19 which bears on the means 8 through a friction disc 18. The effect of this variable friction device and the weight of the reel can be partly offset by a spring 11 which pulls upwardly on a plate 10 in contact with a lower friction disc 9; this spring can be adjusted by a knob 12 in threaded engagement with a tube 15 to which the upper part of the spring is secured. A device to give a warning or to stop the apparatus used to wind-off the wire &c. if the wire breaks or stops, comprises an idler 25 Fig. 2 over which the wire passes and a lever 35 secured to a bearing on which the pulley rotates. When the wire is passing over the pulley normally, the lever is maintained in the upper position shown. When the wire is broken &c., the lever is pulled to its lower position by a spring 37 to actuate a signal or stop the unwinding machine.
