A dust bin with tiltable lid comprises a pair of parallel flanges b protruding from the bin above its mouth at b<SP>1</SP> a lid to cover the mouth, a channel-plate c attached superficially to the lid with side flanges c<SP>1</SP> between and pivoted to the flanges b<SP>1</SP> and an extension of the plate c to constitute a lever c<SP>3</SP> to tilt the lid open. The lever is used in connection with emptying the bin into refuse vehicles.
