In an endless belt conveyer of the kind in which the belt 1 is supported on a series of rollers 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e and in which material 2 is fed to the belt 1 by a hopper 3, at least two laterally-spaced endless bands, each formed of steel strip of outwardly convex section, are arranged with their upper runs in contact with the conveying run of the belt and are disposed so that a band is supported immediately below each of the side walls 8, 9 of the hopper 3, the idler rollers 4a, 4b, 4c 4d which are in the vicinity of the hopper, each being provided with grooves having a convex base to support these bands. As shown, there are disposed at each of three positions across the width of the belt 1 a pair of superposed endless bands 10a and 10b, 11a and 11b, 12a and 12b, respectively, each of the bands being of spring steel and of outwardly convex section, three grooves 5, 6, 7 being provided in each of the rollers 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d to receive these pairs of bands. The bands may be driven.
