Abstract

866,732. Bedsteads. OAKLEY BEDSTEADS Ltd. Jan. 26, 1960 [Jan. 27, 1959], No. 2835/59. Class 52(2). A bedstead comprises four corner posts 14 supporting head and foot frameworks 12 formed by a set of bars 11 mounted between a pair of supporting rails 10 and with a supplementary rail 27 fixed to two comer posts and to one supporting rail. A plurality of bosses 15 with spigots 18 are fixed on the rails 10 so as to engage the bars 11 so that they are freed only on separation of the rails. Bosses 16, 22 are provided for each of the end bars, bosses 16 having a vertical hole and a spigot 19 and boss 22 having a threaded spigot 21 so that the tie rods 20 to which is fixed a radial extension 24 with tube 25 may extend through the boss 16 and screw into the boss 22 to secure the framework; the upper end of the tie rod 20 extends through the supplementary rail 27 and is secured by the ornamental nut 26. The framework 12 is fixed to the pillars 14 either by the rails 10 passing through apertures in the pillars 14 or by a padlike formation frictionally engaging the pillars. Short lengths of tube 31 may be fitted into a hole in the boss 16.
