Abstract

1,252,907. Scaffolding. MILLS SCAFFOLD CO. Ltd. 6 Aug., 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 26105/68. Heading E1S. A vertically adjustable scaffold tower comprises at least one, and as shown four upper three-dimensional frameworks, e.g. 37, and a corresponding number of lower frameworks e.g. 38, each telescopically arranged with respect to the vertically adjacent framework. As shown, each lower framework 38 comprises channel-sectioned uprights 41 which receive tubular uprights 44 of intermediate frameworks 45, whilst the tubular uprights 50 of the upper frameworks 37 can be telescoped within the channel-sectioned uprights 47 of further frameworks rigidly connected to the frameworks 45. The frameworks are each cross-braced in mutually perpendicular planes, the bracing which does not lie in the plane of the openings in the channel-sectioned members being fastened to the uprights by pegs which can extend through said openings. In alternative embodiments, frameworks with tubular uprights can be separated by one (Fig. 1) or two (Fig. 4) frameworks with channelsectioned uprights, or two of the latter can be separated by two of the former.
