866,310. Extruding laminated products. DAUPHINOISE D'APPLICATIONS CHIMIQUES (S.A.D.A.C.) S.A. April 24, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13074/58. Class 87(2). A method of moulding solid or hollow members of reinforced plastic material comprises extruding a tube of one or more layers of textile material impregnated with resin, advancing the tube through a flexible die 5 having an inlet of circular cross-section and a cross-section which progressively varies shape to the desired shape of the member at the outlet of the die, so that the tube, as it passes through the die, is progessively deformed by a continuous pressure exerted by the die over the whole periphery of the tube, and finally polymerizing the resin to set the member. A laminated glass-fibre tube 29, supported on inflatable sleeves 2, 3 which determine the size of the tube 29, is drawn by a device 14 through a sealing unit 17a and extrusion head 22 where it is resin-impregnated. A flexible die 5, in a casing 6 containing heating fluid, has a cross-section progressively varying from circular to triangular and from triangular to a #. The die receives the impregnated tube 29 and during its passage therethrough shapes the tube and solidifies the resin. The die 5 has at its outlet a shaping die 12 of " Teflon " (Registered Trade Mark) and a sealing unit 18. The emerging shaped article is then polymerized by a high frequency electrical device 13 and cut into sections by a device 16. Specification 866,309 is referred to.
