Abstract

870,078. Moulding hollow articles. AASHEIM, J., and ROM, H., [trading as NORSK EXTRUDING]. Sept. 25, 1957, No. 30149/57. Class 87(2). A moulding machine for making thermoplastic hollow articles comprises at least two moulding stations wherein the articles are moulded by fluid pressure between movable mould sections, the moulding stations being so connected to each other, to control means for supplying the thermoplastic material and to the pressurised fluid that the moulding processes at the moulding stations are effected with a relative time displacement. An extrusion screw 1 supplies material through a valve 3 and nozzles 4 to extrude tubes 6 between reciprocating moulds Ia, Ib: IIa, IIb, moved by pistons 9, 10, 11 actuated by compressed air supplied by conduits 12, 13 so arranged that the moulds operate successively and movement of the mould half IIa actuates the valve 3 to direct the material to successive nozzles. The extruded tube is expanded by fluid pressure through conduits 8 and the tube may be closed by a cutting operation at the conclusion of the moulding operation.
