Abstract

1,258,181. Extruded lined, corrugated tubing. WAVIN N.V. 28 Feb., 1969 [5 March, 1968], No. 10787/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] In a combined, extrusion and double-belt moulding machine, Fig. 1 (not shown), for the production of transversely corrugated tubes, the extrusion nozzle is provided with two orifices 3, 14, Fig. 3a, the former of which provides a tubular extrudate which is corrugated by expansion thereof within co-operating contoured mould halves 7, Fig. 2, and the latter of which provides a lining 20 which is shaped by a sealing device 10 connected to the extrusion nozzle and which presses the lining into contact with the troughs 22 of the corrugations. The cross-section of the resultant tube using the orifice configuration of Fig. 3a is as shown in Fig. 4a. Various shapes for orifices 3 and 14 are described, Figs. 3b-3g (not shown), -a general feature being that orifice 14 communicates with orifice 3 at at least -two points. The lining may only enclose part of the interior surface of the tube, Figs. 3e and 3f (not shown) Formation of the corrugations is facilitated by suction means (13), Fig. 1 (not shown), applied to mould halves 7 and internal air pressure supplied via openings 12 and 17, Fig. 3a, situated either side of orifice 14 to maintain substantially equal pressure on both sides of the lining.
