Abstract

<PICT:0866149/III/1> <PICT:0866149/III/2> A moistening arrangement 21, Figs. 1 and 2, for moistening released strips extending in feed direction of copy sheets 43 moving towards a printing couple 1, 12 is pivoted at 22 and controlled by a cam 23 on the printing drum 1 through a roller 24, intermediate lever 25, and roller 26, so as to be swung into operative position during part of each revolution of the drum. The arrangement 21 comprises a plurality of side-by-side felt strips 28, each in a box 27 carrying a pin 32. Each pin 32 is engaged by a slot in a rotatable key 33, which on depression moves the strip 28 to the left into operative position, an opening 39 in the box 27 coming underneath a spray opening 37. At the same time the key 33 moves a slide 35, so that a spring-loaded pin 36 thereon releases the spray opening 37 and engages a recess 38 to lock the box 21 in operative position. A lever 40 causes switching shafts 41, 42, and on counterclockwise movement the shaft 41 restores all the keys 33 and thus all the strips 28, while on clockwise movement the shaft 42 moves all the keys 33 to operative position. In another form, a single strip 28 is used, and the pins 32 are mounted on a series of marking sheets. A transfer roller may be interposed between the strips 28 and the copy sheets 43.
