Abstract
866,095. Cathode-ray tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. April 27, 1959 [July 28, 1958], No. 24272/58. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XXIII] An electrical charge storing target comprising a glass membrane, for use in a television camera tube such as an image orthicon tube, comprises a glass resistant to attack by alkali metals and substantially composed of boric oxide and from 10 to 20% by weight of lithium oxide and from 10 to 40% by weight of other oxides. Preferably such oxides comprise one or more of the oxides of magnesium, calcium, zinc and aluminium. Examples are given. The membrane may be sealed into a tube of a glass composed of PbO 72.3; B 2 O 3 25.9 and SiO 2 1.8 in percentages by weight.
