Class 29 A liquid heating and cooling vessel has top and bottom valved outlets 9, 11 for hot and cold liquid respectively, an intermediate inlet 13, and an apertured partition constituted by thermoelectric elements 17, 18 the junctions of which are so disposed as to heat and cool the liquid in the upper, and lower parts respectively, of the vessel. The current supply to the elements is controlled by a thermo-responsive device 29 in the hot liquid. The elements may be of material as described' in Specification 827,724.
