865,730. Ventilators. COLT VENTILATION Ltd. Oct. 5, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1958; Jan. 27, 1959], Nos. 34538/58 and 2962/59. Class 137 An upward discharge ventilator for a roof comprises a cowl 8, a deflector 13 having drain holes 21, 22 for water falling on its concave surfaces 15 and pivoted flaps 16 and 17 which may be operated electrically, mechanically or by gravity to close the ventilating passage from an exhaust fan 18. Baffles 19, 20 help to maintain the air flow and a gap 23 serves to drain water entering the cowl which may be hinged at 24 to gain access to the fan. In a modification the cowl may be of circular shape in which case the dampers are gravity operated and, according to the second Provisional Specification they are of segmental shape.
