865,629. Armouring vehicles and other objects. BOFORS A. B. Feb. 2, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 3665/60. Class 92 Relates to a protective device for reducing the effect of projectiles with bursting charges, in particular hollow-charge projectiles. The protective device, which may be applied to naval vessels, fortifications or as shown to a combat vehicle, comprises a screen 1 supported on two beams 2 carried on rollers 3 or that the screen can be moved between a front operative position 1 and a retracted position 4. The screen consists of a number of parallel heavy bars which together with a few connecting members form a grating. The arrangement is such that when the point of the projectile passes between the bars the thin wall of the hollow charge is damaged and the effect of the burst when the projectile reaches the combat vehicle is reduced.
