Abstract
1,109,284. Propellant charges for rockets. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 14 July, 1965 [15 July, 1964], No. 29964/65. Heading F3A. A two-stage rocket propellant charge intended to be ignited at the forward end comprises a block 1 of quick-burning propellant and a block 2 of slower burning propellant. The block 1 when ignited at its forward end 7 produces the launching thrust and block 2 maintains the cruising velocity of the rocket. The abutting surfaces of the two blocks have a different area from the ignition surface 7 and are preferably spherical so that part of block is ignited before block 1 has burnt out. Insulation 8 covers the outer surfaces of the two blocks and they are separated by an impervious foil 6.
