865,250. Laminates and laminating. FLEXIPANE Ltd. June 1, 1959 [March 7, 1958], No. 7401/58. Class 140. Laminates employable for windows and other purposes are made by so pressing woven wire between two sheets of heat-softened polythene as to cause the sheets to adhere together between the wire meshes. Preferably an unreinforced margin is left. As shown in Fig. 1, sheets 11, 12 of polythene pass around pulleys and over half the circumference of soft rubber rollers 9, 10, to the nip of the rollers where they are softened by infra-red heating at 14 and laminated to woven wire 13. In Fig. 9 the sheets 28, 29 are delivered to endless belts 30, 33 of natural or man-made fibre fabric having a velvet pile, are softened in a heated chamber 37 surrounding the belts and are laminated to woven wire 38 in the nip of belt-carrying rollers 32, 35. The pile of the belts is restored by brushes. The polythene may be transparent, translucent or opaque, and white or coloured. The Provisional Specification refers to " plastic or polythene " sheets.
